That good old screenwriting mindset

I was thinking about sitting down to continue with my script frenzy screenplay, and I started getting into that screenwriting mindset that I'm sure most are familiar with:

"I need to churn out a few more pages. Hmmm, first I think I'll reorganise my CD collection for the third time today, but this time I'll make sure all the CDs are orientated correctly inside the case."

I'd written enough pages to on the first day to cover the day's progress, so I played Guitar Hero all evening with a big grin on my face. I'd taken it up to the next level and for 20 minutes I couldn't play anything, but after a bit of practice, I still rock!

There is a down side to all of this; I was tempted to go onto iTunes and download seventies rock music (on dear!).

I'll have to be more disciplined tonight and churn out my 3.33 pages :)

... and how's it going now, sir?

The script, not the Hawkwind.

Slowly, very slowly.

It's all down to the day job I'm afraid. I have work for 4 people and pnly have one person available.

As the team leader, the buck stops with me, so I have to work my ass off.

When I get home I just want to rest and the thought of writing is far off in the back of my mind.

With luck the next week should see things easing off. Either that or I've just tempted fate!

Hi Chris
Glad I found you. I've had a script in progress for nearly 2 years. I really want to finish it, but as you and I know, life gets in the way... but what about this procrastination? It's hard enough dealing with the to-do list. But when I do have a couple of spare hours, fighting the blank=page syndrome is the worst...

It would be so great to get it done. At least a full decent first draft. But as the months pass, it seems more and more like an impossible dream.

Ok, enough of this pity party. Thanks for listening.
